Pineapple Day Quilt WIP

Today’s the day!! Pineapple Day that is, and the Fat Quarter Shop is celebrating with a free, downloadable quilt pattern. I’ve made a lot of “tweaks” to the original pattern and am still working on borders, so today I’m sharing my work in progress!

The Pineapple Day quilt pattern is made using Pineapple Papers for paper pieced blocks, and the original pattern includes both 6″ and 12″ finished blocks. I chose to use only the 12″ blocks in my quilt, changed the placement of some of the fabric colors, and I am now adding borders.

I had good intentions to finish, but truth be told I cut TONS of blocks for the borders I wanted to create for this quilt, and after putting it up on my design wall, I did NOT like the borders. At least not for this quilt. Those blocks got set aside and lots more decision making was made before I decided on a different style of border. HINT: the new borders use Flying Geese Triangle on a Roll paper. I think I’m going to love them, but no matter how fast I sew, it’s not fast enough. So…more to come on this quilt!
