Spool Souffle Quilt Along With the Fat Quarter Shop
Hi everyone – today, I get to team up with the Fat Quarter Shop to share the Spool Souffle Quilt, which is so adorable and easy!
Made from a layer cake, this is a free pattern designed by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree Quilts, and there is a great tutorial provided on YouTube, along with all the links to get the kit, free pattern and more.
I chose Lella Boutique Farmer’s Daughter fabrics by designer Vanessa Goertzen for my quilt. I hadn’t used her fabrics before, and they’re becoming a new favorite!
You’ll notice in my first picture, I chose to change the borders, opting to have just the first border which I cut at 3½” wide. I like the way the spools kind of float in the quilt. Vanessa used these fabrics and did a similar border option on her Kith & Kin Quilt, and I wanted to copy that look.
If you’ve followed me very long, you’ll know I’m a sucker for saving the “bonus blocks” that come from trimming excess. I hit the jackpot bonus on this quilt, saving all the extras from the corners of the spools.
For binding, I also chose Farmer’s Daughter – love those polka dots ( and my “garden” quilting gloves)!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my quilt! Now, head on over and see what everyone else has made!
wow, I love yours the best. I think its the background. Remarkable.
Love your quilt and how you made many of the tops and bottoms of the spools scrappy-looking. Also love your outer border – really sets off the spools.
Thanks for your comment! I really did enjoy making this quilt, simple and fast!
