Crossroads Quilt Along Mini Quilt Family Block
My Crossroads Quilt Along Mini Quilt and my full size version are coming along nicely! I wonder how many ambitious quilters have started working ahead, piecing borders or sashings?
I’ve got my tin ready for some half-square triangles, but that’s about as far as I’ve got on border work. I love doing both sizes of blocks and am so happy I chose to use two different fabric lines rather than make both quilts exactly the same.
The Moda Strawberry Fields Revisited by Fig Tree & Co. fabrics used in my mini blocks vary somewhat from the kits offered by the Fat Quarter Shop for the original sized blocks and quilt. I chose to use a Layer Cake and, because the pieces are so small in the mini blocks, I often choose a smaller print so the design easily can be seen in the block.
I’m still in love with my fabric choice for the full size blocks, Moda’s Larkspur by 3 Sisters.
I like the quilt above. It’s a kit available at Craftsy and helps me envision how the fabrics look sew together. I really think the fabric is going to look even more impressive in the Crossroads Quilt.
And for those of you who are following along, here are this month’s measurements to the Crossroads Quilt Along Mini Quilt Block #4: The Family Block!
Monthly Reminder for the Crossroads Quilt Along Mini
If you’re not familiar with the Crossroads Quilt Along, I wrote more about it here. The instructions for each 8-inch, full size, monthly block are provided by the Fat Quarter Shop. You need those instructions, as I am only providing replacement measurements to create a 4¼” block each month. Share your progress and creations with us on Crossroads Facebook group. Post your blocks using #crossroadsquiltalong and #crossroadsquiltalongmini on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
