Crossroads Quilt Along Mini Quilt Diamond Block
I’m so glad to share with you the Diamond block measurements for the Crossroads Quilt Along Mini quilt! I’ve got a confession to make. I’m really working at getting this blogging thing down. A workflow, that is… My blocks were done ASAP and most the photography, artwork and other miscellaneous that goes into creating a blog post, but somewhere in between finishing the blocks and writing this post, I had Farmer’s Wife 30s blocks to finish for a monthly class that I teach locally and a first-time ever local quilt show to help set up for and attend in our little town of Sedgwick. It’s been hoppin’ around here and it’s not even Easter, yet (pun intended)!
We’ve had so many nice days in Kansas, that I was able to take some pics outside despite our lovely wind (note sarcasm). I’m an 80s, big-hair kind of girl and could totally do without the wind. I shouldn’t complain though. It’s 76 degrees right now, and I should be jogging, not typing. Just a few days ago, during Friday’s quilt show setup, it was snowing. True story. I should have taken a picture. It was strange to look out the church window, down the main street in full bloom from the Redbud and Bradford Pear trees, while a steady snow came down around everything. Gotta love Kansas.
I’m loving both these quilts. As you can see, I’m using a single, solid background fabric for my mini blocks, along with the Layer Cake of Strawberry Fields Revisited fabrics. My full size blocks are comprised of Moda’s Larkspur from 3 Sisters. From the same line, I’m using a random assortment of the lighter fabrics for my background and really enjoying the results. End goal for the large quilt is to do some math and take it up to a king size to fit our bed.
I got a bit carried away while making my mini blocks. Does anyone else make “bonus blocks?” Do you know what they are or should I write a bit about that subject? I used some of mine to make this ¾” pinwheel block, added a bit of fabric to either side and then inserted it into the basket tag holder. I think it was at this point I mentioned on Instagram that maybe I need a “mini intervention.” Now I’m thinking I want to do this for all my Longaberger baskets!
