Snapshots Quilt-Along Mini Quilt Block Ten: Gone Surfin’

I’m betting a lot of you thought I’d gone surfin’, huh? As autumn hits and the “sewing season,” as I like to call it, picks up, life gets a bit hectic on this side of the screen. I’ve had this block made for ages, but getting pics and computer work done for this post kept being put to the side by interruptions.

I’ve never been surfing. It’s not something we really do in Kansas. Not a lot of opportunity or needed water and waves, but when I first saw this block, I didn’t see a surfboard. Believe it or not, I saw a canoe. Must be those Kansas roots again speaking to me! And, thinking canoe, it made me think of this little figurine. It’s been with me a long time. I’m not a collector of figurines or much of anything else (except fabric, of course!!), but this one was given to me from a dear friend I met in college. I’ve always loved the sentiment. It made me think of all the new friends I’ve met this past year through this Snapshots Quilt-Along…people from all over the world, and I hope that even as this quilt comes to a finish, I will still have many moons in the same canoe with all of you!

This month’s block went smoothly. I had no special notes or instructions to pass on for the Snapshots Quilt-Along Mini Quilt, so here is your measurement chart for Block 10. Happy quilting and bless you!
