Snapshots Quilt-Along Mini Block 12: Walk in the Park
It’s Month TWELVE of the Fat Quarter Shop’s Snapshot’s Quilt-Along and time for the Snapshots Quilt-Along Mini block!
Insert me doing this here…
I admit, I do that every month when I receive the new block and then get ready to release the mini block measurements. I just never admitted it before now! The past week has been busy, but I’m sure every quilter or creative person feels the same way. There is something about Thanksgiving that signals a few basic instincts.
1. FOOD
(my first attempt at making cake balls….yum!)
2. DECORATING
(which takes me much longer than it should as I’ve developed this need to learn chalkboard art)
3. COVETING
(admittedly, maybe not everyone has this problem, but when I start wandering around my sister-in-law’s house, I feel the urge to start putting things in my pocket to take home with me)
4. START NEW (last minute) PROJECTS
Fit some minor leg surgery into the end of the week (I refuse of include a picture of my thigh swathed in bandages….ewww!) and now we are ready for (drumroll please)….A WALK IN THE PARK!!
I love this block. It’s hard to decide which was my favorite, but I’m leaning hard between this and our bicycle block.
I had draped the quilt over our stair railing, in preparation of taking outside to photograph. The Christmas lights shining through were so pretty! It made me think of stained glass…
And because it ended up being too windy outside to take pics, we’ll have to settle for the pictures we got. Next on the list is quilting it all together! I haven’t even begun to think what I’ll do for that or if I’ll send it out to be quilted. Any ideas?
Here’s your measurement chart of this month. You’ll notice an asterik where I’ve changed the measurements. I did this on the bicycle block, as well. I refuse to cut and sew pieces so small. Life is too short for that kind of stress. Cut your blocks the size shown for Pieces E and Q, then head over to this post where I talk about making half-square triangles 8 at a time. I used that same technique on this block for the pinwheels. There you will find links to a download and tutorial for speedy half-square triangles.
Enjoy! I’m thinking I’d better start looking into the next quilt-along. Anyone else doing Fat Quarter Shop’s Crossroads Quilt-Along? It’s beautiful. Headed over to the site to check it out. Join me!
Again, thank you so much for creating the mini version of the Snapshots quilt. I’m going to save finishing this block until after Christmas when I can really savor the moment. Yes, I want to do Crossroads and have it on my wish list. Are you going to do a mini version for us? Thank you!
I just wanted to thank you very much for the measurements of the mini blocks, its on my to do list next year. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the 2016 QAL. Have a great Christmas and thanks again.
