Crossroads Quilt Along Mini Quilt Chain Block 6
Welcome back to the Crossroads Quilt Along Mini Quilt Chain Block 6! I took a break from blogging last month, and my apologies for that. Chalk it up to family/friend caretaking responsibilities opportunities and some hair-pulling computer issues, but I’m back and going strong. Look for all the mini measurements to be on line before the weekend is over. I was aiming for week end….as in Friday, today, but as it’s nearly midnight in Kansas, I’m cutting it close!
Let’s start by saying you’ll need a lot of pins if you’re a pinner, like me. I ordered new pins from the Fat Quarter Shop after reading several good reviews about Little House Pins. Loved them!
They were a tie with my old favorite, Clover Fine Quilting Pins. Not only are both brands very sharp, piercing through layers easily, but they are very thin. I drive sew straight across my pins, most the time, so fine (as in narrow) is better, as I have less chance of breaking my sewing needle.
After getting all the 4-patch blocks completed, the center square-in-a-square blocks had to be assembled. Doing a quick count in my head as I write…25 pieces per block…18 blocks…(getting scary in my head)…
I adore wee, tiny blocks…And of course there were all the full size blocks to make, as well!
Which brings us to the measurements for the Mini Chain Block! Normally, I have a picture of the full and mini sizes together when I provide the measurements, but somehow I managed NOT to take the side by side pictures before sewing them into the quilts, so I settled for the Mini alone this time.
Monthly Reminder for the Crossroads Quilt Along Mini Quilt
If you’re not familiar with the Crossroads Quilt Along, I wrote more about it here. The instructions for each 8-inch, full size, monthly block are provided by the Fat Quarter Shop. You need those instructions, as I am only providing replacement measurements to create a 4¼” block each month. Share your progress and creations with us on Crossroads Facebook group. Post your blocks using #crossroadsquiltalong and #crossroadsquiltalongmini on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
