Happy Friday, everyone! Today is block release #2, Happy Friday, everyone! Today is block release #2, Buttercup, of the Heartfelt Charity Quilt Along from @fatquartershop. You can get all the information and download the pattern at https://blog.fatquartershop.com/2022-heartfelt-quilt-along/.​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ In Kansas, we don't have any buttercups blooming yet, but small green shoots are already sprouting up. Yesterday, it was nearly 80 degrees here. Mind you, I believe the forecast for Monday is snow. Greetings, friends! I've been poor about posting t Greetings, friends! I've been poor about posting the past couple weeks, but I've been fast and furiously making pineapple quilt blocks! I'll backtrack to share some "before" photos leading up to this point. 🍍🍍🍍 This quilt started with a free, downloadable pattern from @fatquartershop which is hosting a 3-week sew along to make the Pineapple Day Quilt. 🍍🍍🍍 Next, I made a few tweaks to the original pattern, lol! I am using @fatquartershop Pineapple Papers which are AMAZING, however I added an extra square to the center of the blocks (the purple solid) and chose to extend my printed fabrics to the corners of each block, rather than frame them in white. I also decided to use only the 12-inch blocks. I PROMISE to write a blog post this week, sharing the changes in more detail. 🍍🍍🍍 Check out @fatquartershop to get all the details about the sew along.. I had to share this pic with you today, mainly bec I had to share this pic with you today, mainly because that magnolia tree in the background is magnificent! This picture doesn't do it justice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My neighbor, Mary, has the greenest thumb in the county. If I need a feel-good yard moment, I cross the alley to Mary's front porch, sit a spell, and soak in all the beauty. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Seeing the gorgeous colors of her tree a little bit ago, I was reminded me of this project I finished ages ago!! The first block we did in the @fatquartershop Threadology QAL was an Ohio Star (February 1), and I was making NICU quilts for a group of women I quilt with monthly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I decided to oversize the Ohio Star block to make this NICU quilt and hadn't delivered it yet because I wanted to photograph it (and we were still having snow then). I located it buried under two quilt tops that are in line to be quilted. Thank goodness for the magnolia blooms reminding me with their similar colors as my quilt, otherwise, it might still be buried! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And in case someone hasn't heard of NICU, it means Newborn Intensive Care Unit - a nursery in a hospital that provides around-the-clock care to sick or premature babies.
