Perfect 10 Sampler Quilt Along – Week 6
Week 6 of Fat Quarter Shop’s Perfect 10 Sampler Quilt Along and I’m wondering…where has the time flown? I’ve enjoyed working on such simple blocks. Really. Sometimes, simple and straight forward is just nice.
As we near the end of this quilt along, I’m thinking I need to order some yardage of this Smitten fabric. It’s soooooo yummy, and a 10″ square is not enough. ♥
This week we made three blocks, two of which are Lemon Sorbet. Sweet! When you’re working with layer cakes, you only get so many dark prints vs. light prints. I used two lighter prints, uncertain how I would feel about the low contrast, but I love the end result. I could definitely do an entire quilt like this.
Our second block design was Mint Chocolate Chip, and of course I loved it, since HST-anything is always a favorite with me. I think this would look gorgeous repeated over and over in a two-color quilt.
The design wall is filling up fast!! For several years I used a piece of batting-covered foam board that was much less that HALF this size. Then, Hobby Lobby began to carry foam board that measured 40″ x 60″ – so big I had to have a friend with an SUV get two of them for me, as my little Honda Accord couldn’t manage (wouldn’t fit through the door)! I hung them to achieve a 80″ wide by 60″ tall space. How did I ever manage with my small board, lol?!
