Perfect 10 Sampler Quilt Along – Week 2
Hey, hey, hey! Today is all about the Fat Quarter Shop Perfect 10 Sampler Quilt Along, and I can’t wait to show you blocks 3 and 4 that I finished last week, but first I have to share a very important Tuesday Tip. In fact, this post really should be titled Stitch, Rip & Repeat!
Remember the old saying “Measure twice, cut once?” Well, the same thinking can be applied to “Look twice (at the instruction pictures), sew once.” I made, photographed and sent my block pictures to the Fat Quarter Shop team for their web site. This is one of those pictures, below, and again on the FQS blog, here.
Last night I was finishing up some late night sewing and putting things away. I was adding these two blocks to my design wall when I realized…..”Hey, this block looks kind of strange.” Do you see it?
Do you?
How about now?
Still not seeing it? Well, if you’re not, just know that the top half of my Coconut Block is upside down. Makes me so proud to share these moments with you!
Luckily, these blocks not only go together super smoothly, they come apart and sew back together again in a jiffy!
And you know, if you’ve followed me for any length of time, I love “bonus blocks,” those little extras you get when you trim the corners off your half square triangles. I always save mine. I have no idea what I’ll do with these, maybe put them into a pin cushion (???), but they’re cute!
The Buttered Pecan blocks also came out quite adorable and without mishap. At least none that was photographed (wink)!

I loved that you photographed your mistake, so funny! I’m pretty sure that all quilters have to rip out their blocks from time to time. If not, something’s wrong with them, lol! I love the fabric line you chose 🙂
We have to laugh at ourselves at times like this!! Sometimes, I think I use my seam ripper more than my sewing machine, as impossible as that sounds! By the way, I LOVE your blocks at Dream, Quilt, Create! The fabric from Lori Holt’s Autumn Love is sweet!
