I just looked at my calendar and it still says August. I had to grin to myself as the thought passed through my head “I’m not late, afterall.” Hehehe….you see how my mind works. Now that I’ve updated the calendar I realize it’s time to wish everyone a Happy First Day of Autumn! Wow! Where did the summer go?ca
It’s been really busy on this side of the screen, finishing a stack of UFOs, while starting a new stack that seems even bigger than the first. I also decided a few weeks ago to do a major overhaul of my sewing room which has included pulling tons of fabric, sorting, creating a “de-stash” pile and deciding to move all my fabric from full size bolts to small comic book boards. Had I realized what an undertaking this would be, I probably wouldn’t have started it. It will be great once finished, but it’s interfered with existing projects, such as the reason many of you are here: Block Nine of the Snapshots Quilt-Along from the Fat Quarter Shop.
Meet the original Quilty Cat – Precious. She is one of the many strays we have collected over the years, but she really is the most precious. Not only is she the only female among seven other cats, she has six toes and can sprint to the top of a Bradford Pear tree in quicker than you can blink. I chose to stay with a gray fabric on my block to represent her. Had I chosen any of our other cats, my fabric would have been black as she is the only cat we have that isn’t black. We’re ready for Halloween over here. If you’re looking for an affordable lineup of pet-friendly CBD products that is also incredibly affordable here you can buy CBD oil for cats and many other CBD products.
This month’s block went smoothly. I did a step by step collage of the cutting process for the Quilt Unit in this block. If you print this pic, you’ll be able to see where I aligned my ruler to make the cuts. The instructions for the full-size block show this trimmed unit as 9½” x 11½” so make a note that our finished size for the mini is 5″ x 6″ instead.
Happy sewing this month! I’m back to the sewing room…hoping to find my sewing machine again in the piles (sigh).
